Fab Lab Athens is an active node of the Digital Fabrication Laboratories network of Fab Labs,
located in the premises of the National Technical University of Athens – School of Architecture.
It constitutes a platform which:
-tests and promotes new economic, social and educational models in the local context of
Greece and in the global scenario of the 3rd Industrial Revolution and the crisis societies.
-organizes activities, research and educational programs related to Science fields of
production, designing and communication (New Materialities/Internet of Things,/Automated
Construction/Real time Data/Smart Cities/ DIY culture/Collective Innovation/Open Source
Design)
-creates an Open Lab that is accessible to/by local people, professionals, researchers,
students, children and to/by anybody interested in learning and testing the uses and
applications of digital fabrication technologies.

Short Bios

Elena Antonopoulou is an Athens-based architect and researcher. After receiving her
Masters from the School of Architecture, NTUA, she followed the interdisciplinary
postgraduate programme: Design, Space, Culture at the same school. She is currently
a NTUA PhD candidate, investigating the notion of the Commons and the analogy
between the hegemonic mode of immaterial production and the production of
space. She participates in the projects of CITY INDEX LAB, attempting to combine
research activity with experimental praxis. Ηer work has been presented in various
exhibitions (Adhocracy, Athens, GR, 2015/ IABR, Rotterdam, NL, 2014/ EMST, Athens,
GR 2013-14/ 6th Biennale, Athens, GR, 2010).

Eirini Vouliouri is a registered architect in Greece, having graduated from the
NTUAthens School of Architecture (2008). She holds an MSc in Design-Space-Culture
from NTUAthens (2010) and an MSc in Advanced Architecture and Computation from
the Bartlett School of Graduate Studies, UCL (2010). Currently, she is working as a
freelance architect in Athens. She is also a PhD candidate at the NTUAthens School of
Architecture and a member of Fab Lab Athens, researching on the subject of
interaction design and digital fabrication processes. Eirini has participated in
international conferences, both as a presenter and an organiser, and has lectured as
an invited Teaching Assistant at the Digital Design and Manufacturing course of
NTUAthens School of Architecture, for the academic years 2013-14 and 2014-15.
